The Dallas Cowboys appear to have left behind the days of big-time free agency spending in favor of building through the draft. While at its surface this is a smart move, major holes within a roster must sometimes be filled with free agents or via trade. This makes Dallas’ recent stubbornness all the more infuriating when they instead spend only on bargain deals like Nolan Carroll and Stephen Paea.

Compounding the issue further is the ways in which Dallas unintentionally tampers with its own talent at times. Perhaps the greatest victim of this the past few years, Tyrone Crawford, has been largely considered a bust by fans since signing his 5 year, $45 million contract a few years ago. If Dallas isn’t careful, former first-round pick, Byron Jones could be the next misused Cowboys.
